The Deportation Story
A picture is worth a thousand words.

The rush to the train The line-up before boarding

Herded like cattle to the slaughterhouse - Watched over by OD and Marechaussee

All on board! The line-up before boarding

After the big rush came the quiet - Especially with OD and Marechaussee present

So, now what? All on board!

In the beginning coaches were used - Lateron came the numbered cattle cars

All on board! All on board

The big question was to where and why - The answer would come soon enough

The victorious SS The SS with guard dogs

There was no uncertainty among the SS - They supervised with confidence and dogs

The OD in action Distress and sorrow

The OD ensured a quick embarkation - Briefly travellers found a moment to pause

The elderly The orderlies

For the sick a make-shift cart was used - Orderlies accompanied the sick and infirm

Deportation Pleasant journey!

Hurry up and keep on moving. Time is almost up - Finally came the whistle, goodbey

Groundwork for the railroad Laying the rails

They worked on the railroad tracks - But what was the purpose?

Almost finished The ever present Marechaussee

The track is almost finished - And soon they found out its purpose
Deportation could now be realized from within the camp itself.
