The sweatshop of camp Westerbork

At work in the sweat-shop
Exploitation in the Sweatshop, next deportation

Pirkei Avot - Wisdom of the Fathers, is the most widely known of the sixty-three tractates of the Mishna. This tractate contains the classic thoughts on ethics and morality of the Talmudic era and has been one of the most popular sources of Hashkafa - moral philosophy throughout the ages. This is one of the sayings of Rabbi Yaakov: "This world is like a lobby before the world to come. Prepare yourself in the lobby so that you may enter the banquet hall." It is doubtful Rabbi Yaakov was referring to the conditions at camp Westerbork when he wrote his words of wisdom!
